Created in 1973 by its president and founder, Philippe MAREC, Formalangues is geared towards corporate clients and provides Inter, Intra and intensive courses in every language on the market. With it's headquartes in Paris, it boasts a presence across the entire nation, thanks to its partnerships with local entities, such as Demos Langues (an affiliate of the Demos group) in Lyon and Grenoble, with which it has been working for many years.
Headquarters a stone’s throw from the Champs-Elysées with nearly 30 classrooms, a media library and a multi-media resource center, Formalangues employs 130 people, of whom 40 are fulltime administrators, technical and business personnel and pedagogical specialists, and 90 are teachers who teach their native tongues.
The recent takeover occurred on amicable terms. Jean WEMAERE, the president and general director of Demos, and Philippe MAREC, president and general director of Formalangues – have worked together in harmony for years.
Philippe MAREC had this to say: "Demos is the most dynamic and best-managed organization around. Jean WEMAERE is one of those Frenchmen who holds our nation’s colours high. Demos is a visible presence in Germany, England, Spain, Morocco and China… In a world in constant motion, if someone comes along and wants to take a step forward and play a role in the globalization of professional training, you have to step in behind those in the vanguard who offer the critical element you lack. This is what Formalangues has done. The group was lacking a vehicle for growth in the field of languages. Henceforth, it shall have one, and I shall devote myself to developing and fostering French language know-how in France, Europe and elsewhere. The new technologies offer us new perspectives that we will be able to offer to our learners."
Jean WEMAERE, for his part, welcomed the merger : «I have known Philippe MAREC from the time when we set out to help build up this profession. Together, we piloted the collective labour agreement for vocational training schools, which beside the social harmony that it has encouraged, has played a role in unifying formerly atomized entities of differents levels. Formalangues is a solid company that its peers hold in high esteem. We are proud to have them join us.»
